“Having implants and crowns resulting in a nice smile has made a tremendous difference to my confidence. I no longer put my hand to my mouth when I laugh and smile. A big thank you to you all”
Dental Implants
What is a Dental Implant?
Dental implants are replacement tooth roots on which new teeth can be built, thereby restoring the patient’s ability to once again eat and smile with confidence. Dental Implants are usually made from Titanium and are inserted into the jaw in the same position as the missing tooth.
Dental implants offer a permanent solution for missing teeth. What’s more, they look, feel and function like natural teeth.
By reconstructing your teeth and oral function, dental implants can aid your physical well-being by improving your digestion and nutrition, so you will feel like smiling again.
So if you have any missing teeth, call us now on 01489 894496 for a free consultation to discuss how implants may benefit you.
We do not place Implants at the surgery, but refer to our specialist in Southampton.
Pax Uni3D CT Scanner
3D Scanning allows dentists to take a fully three dimensional X-ray (CT Scan) around the area where a dental implant needs to be placed, so you can be sure the implant goes in exactly the correct position.
This is far more accurate than relying on normal X-rays alone.
How are dental implants fitted?
For back teeth, the implant is usually placed under the gum and then left for 12-14 weeks before the abutment and crown are fitted, to allow for the implant to heal into the bone.
For front teeth it is often possible to immediately replace the whole tooth with an implant, the abutment and a provisional crown; a permanent crown being made 12-14 weeks later.
Properly done, a dental implant and crown are virtually indistinguishable from a natural tooth.
